Nurturing Spirit through Song: The Legacy of Mary K. Oyer

Mary Oyer is Professor Emerita of Music at Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana, and a major contributor to the last two Mennonite hymnals. Mary Oyer is a cellist, church musician, hymnody scholar, hymnal editor, and enlivener of congregational song. More than 40 years a professor at Goshen College, Mary studied African musical traditions in 22 countries on a series of Fulbright grants. She has been a visiting professor at both Kenyatta University in Kenya, and at Tainan Theological Seminary in Taiwan.

A book titled Nurturing Spirit through Song: The Life of Mary K. Oyer and a DVD titled Nurturing Spirit Through Song: The Legacy of Mary K. Oyer were produced in 2006 to record Mary’s contributions.  Order the book.
